Protection and Intelligence Gathering

The Tiger Reserve has a long history of wildlife conservation and protection of wildlife and forest forms a very important aspect of the management. Satpura tiger reserve has adopted a protectionist attitude for a long time, with its reliable communication system, strategically placed camps and intensive patrolling by the ever-vigilant staff. This has resulted in an appreciable increase in wildlife population and intrusions / encroachments are well under control. However, sporadic cases of wildlife and forest offences do occur in peripheral areas.

Satpura Tiger reserve has a planned strategy for protection. There are 130 patrolling camps inside the park. Almost every camp is equipped with protection gears, wireless stations/ handsets . sufficient no. of vehicles are there. Barriers with forest guards are specially maintained in the sensitive areas. Patrolling is being carried out round the year either on foot, with vehicles, elephants or boats as and when required.
